Char Dham Yatra

Yamunotri: Yamunotri is the starting point of the Char Dham Yatra. It is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna and is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,293 meters (10,804 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas. To reach Yamunotri, you will need to trek for about 6 kilometers from the town of Hanuman Chatti. The trek is moderate in difficulty, and you can also hire ponies or palanquins if you prefer not to walk. The main attraction at Yamunotri is the temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, and there is also a natural hot water spring called Surya Kund.

Gangotri: After visiting Yamunotri, the next stop is Gangotri, which is dedicated to the goddess Ganga (Ganges). Gangotri is situated at an altitude of about 3,100 meters (10,170 feet). Unlike Yamunotri, Gangotri is easily accessible by road. The temple of Gangotri is the main attraction here, and it is open from May to November. The sacred Bhagirathi River originates from the Gangotri Glacier.

Kedarnath: The third stop on the Char Dham Yatra is Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. To reach Kedarnath, you will need to trek for about 16 kilometers from Gaurikund. The trek is moderately difficult, and you can also hire ponies or palanquins. The Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is the primary attraction here.

Badrinath: The final destination on the Char Dham Yatra is Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is located at an altitude of about 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Unlike Kedarnath, Badrinath is easily accessible by road. The Badrinath Temple is the main attraction here, and it is open from May to November. The temple is believed to be the abode of Lord Vishnu in his Badri form.
